The mayor of Petersburg has chosen the Cordish Companies to create a casino, and the company has proposed a $1.4 billion proposal to bring a casino to the city.
At a meeting on Tuesday night, the City Council overwhelmingly opted to award Cordish the contract to develop a casino and entertainment complex.

Part of the Cordish Companies' multi-stage concept includes a destination casino with 400 thousand square feet of space, a 200-room hotel, and an entertainment complex with 3,000 seats. The casino would have a sportsbook, 46 gaming tables, a poker room with 15 tables, and 1,600 slot machines, among other eating and hotel options.
The developers expect to open the doors of the casino in 2026.

I thought this was a sure thing early on but the vote to get this approved only happened this elections? Nice to see this project continue, and I am looking forward to seeing the architecture how they'll integrate the casino in the area.
